Thousands of visitors flock to UAE Pavilion at Expo 2012

Thousands of people have been flocking to the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2012 which is taking place in Yeosu, South Korea. The National quoted Hana Moon, an Expo PR as saying, "The expo has just opened and we've had around 40,000 [visitors] a day."

In total, up to eight million people are expected to attend the event, which runs until August 12. The Expo is being held under the theme “The Living Ocean and Coast” and aims to focus global attention on the sustainable use of our oceans and coastlines. The UAE Pavilion has been designed to showcase the country’s symbiotic relationship with its coast and waters, providing an overview of the UAE’s proud maritime heritage, and showing specially-commissioned films highlighting the pivotal role of the sea in trade both past and present and underlining the country’s commitment to sustainable oceanic research and development. On June 14, visitors will celebrate UAE Day at Yeosu when the spotlight will be turned on the Emirates and the country’s deep connection with, and commitment to, the goals of Expo 2012.
